Thanksgiving Day: gratitude is about abundance not only about giving thanks

Today is Thanksgiving Day and our list of things to be thankful for is endless. We could mention the incredible places we’ve been to, the sunsets we’ve seen, the people we were lucky to meet, the lessons we learned, and our family and friends, who despite any distance on the map are always with us.

The funny thing is that when we started planning our project, we asked ourselves: ‘We have amazing people around us, we have careers that we love, we have all the comforts of our homes, in addition to countless opportunities. Isn’t that good enough? Do we really have to drop everything to roam around the world? ’.

What we realized is that ‘gratitude’ is different from ‘conformism’. Gratitude is about abundance, not shrinking yourself. Gratitude is about feeling fulfilled, not about stopping dreaming, planning, and working to achieve new goals.

Our culture often makes us believe that it is wrong to want more than what we already have; that being ambitious is bad; that it is a bit silly to dream big; that it is a waste of time to try to follow a different path. We feel guilty and ashamed as if we weren’t worthy of a brilliant life.

What’s gratitude about?

Just one more time (we promise!) gratitude is about abundance. Gratitude is a beautiful feeling, which as the name says, puts us in a state of grace and makes us vibrate this energy of light and prosperity. And if our minds and hearts are vibrating in this way, what will we attract to our lives? More abundance. More gratitude. In an endless cycle.

We were made to live rich lives (and here everyone gives their meaning to ‘wealth’). That’s why on this Thanksgiving Day, we give thanks for our abundant and colorful lives. We are grateful for everything we’ve experienced so far. And we’re thankful for the dreams and projects to come. May we know how to live a life filled with gratitude.
